چکیده

A case of postoperative prosthetic hip joint infection due to Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus is described. Difficulties in isolation and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of this organism are discussed.

Campylobacter lari is an infrequent cause of intestinal and extraintestinal infection in humans. We report a case of C. lari prosthetic joint infection and bacteremia in an 81-year-old immunocompetent man. The infection was associated with septic shock and fatal outcome.
